SABAH Nepal

In the Summer of 2018, I interned for SABAH Nepal, a non-profit organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal, that helps domestic-based women workers become financially independent through the formation of microenterprises. SABAH aids women artisans by giving them the resources and technical training needed to weave Dhaka fabric, a traditional Nepalese textile. SABAH would then turn these textiles into beautiful garments and sell them locally.

While working at SABAH, I created a line for summer 2019 that incorporated traditional Dhaka fabric and trends I had noticed among young Nepalese women. As the designer for this line, I was responsible for determining the overall mood and inspiration, sourcing additional textiles from the local markets in Thamel, sketching designs and technical flats for approval, creating tech packs for each design, and assisting the pattern maker with fittings.

For each product I designed, I created a tech pack that included notes on design call-outs, measurements of the samples, and the material used for the garment.
